I don’t usually like this much hardscaping, but in this courtyard it shows off the plants beautifully, especially with those clusters of brilliant pink. Well done.

Beautiful view of what I believe to be Balcony of Europe in Nerja. I,ve been in that beutiful locations many times since I own property in La Herradura, Granada coast. Thank you for a wonderful memory of paradise on earth.
I live in Florida and I am considering bringing a little piece of Andalucia to my home in Orlando. My task is dealing with a 9′ x 7′ atrium that I want to convert into an interior courtyard by enclosing the roof. The final plan will have to have an entrance arch leading to the kitchen and another arch leading to the foyer. The other two sides are enclosed walls. The walls leading to the ceiling are in pitch (one higher than the other since the roof has a natural angle. The actual roof opening will be enclosed using a glass skylight to allow natural light to the courtyard.
Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Luis,
You are correct it was the Balcony de Europa in Nerja – well spotted! La Herradura is a lovely location, I know it well, great place to have a house. For ideas for your atrium garden, I think you might be able to do something similar with raised planters and a central space and features. Try to line up key viewpoints with the main windows that you view the area from. You could also try incorporating either a false perspective mirror or perhaps even a wall mural to create more interest.
